Is SpringMove Legit?

Yes, SpringMove is a legitimate property buying company that provides a range of services to help people sell their properties quickly. The company is registered in England and Wales, and has a team of experienced property professionals.

Furthermore, the company has received many positive customer reviews for its services on websites like TrustPilot, which lends to the company's reliability and authenticity.

The company is also a member of The Property Ombudsman (TPO), a government-approved scheme for property agents to ensure high standards of service and consumer protection, and the National Association of Property Buyers.

How SpringMove Works

SpringMove's main goal is to help homeowners sell their properties quickly, and easily, without all the hassles associated with traditional home sales. And to keep things as simple as possible, they've designed a simple, three step process.

Here's how it works:

  1. Request a cash offer: The first step is to get in touch with the company to request your cash offer. This can be done either by calling the company's phone number, or by filling out the form on their homepage.

  2. Receive your offer:  You should receive your cash offer within 24 hours of contact the company. The offer is then subject to a one-time visit from a independent RICS surveyor who will assess the value of the home.
  3. Exchange contract, move, and receive your funds: Lastly, if you choose to accept the company's cash offer, you'll need to choose a completion date, exchange contracts, and begin your move. Once the contracts are exchange and your move is complete, you'll receive your funds directly into your bank account.

Can You Haggle With SpringMove?

The company claims to offer a fair and transparent selling process. Their cash offer is intended to be their best offer, subject to the one-time visit from a RICS surveyor.

Therefore, while it may be possible to negotiate with SpringMove, their cash offer is likely to be final. That said, homeowners are under no-obligation to accept an offer if they are not satisfied.

The Pros And Cons Of Working With SpringMove

Like many similar cash buyers, working with SpringMove to sell your property has its advantages and disadvantages. Here are some of the pros and cons to consider:

The Pros

  • Quick sale: Spring's main goal is to help homeowners sell in a time frame that suits their needs. According to the website, the fastest time from offer to completion is 48 hours. However, it’s more likely that your home will be sold within 14-28 days.

  • Guaranteed sales: Because the company has over £300 million in guaranteed funding, there are no chains or conditional financing that can fall through. Once an offer is accepted by the seller, it's guaranteed to be seen through to the end.

  • Cash buyer: As a cash buyer, Spring will provide you with a competitive cash offer for your property. You won't need to deal with estate agents, banks, or low-ball offers.

  • Inclusive fees: Spring does not charge any extra fees. Their service fee is included directly in the sale of your home.

  • Experience: Spring was established in 2007, which means the company and its team have more than 15 years of experience in the house buying industry.

The Cons

  • Lower cash offer: In many cases, cash buyers will buy your property quickly. However, this often comes at the expense of having to accept an offer that is below market value.

  • Limited reviews: Unlike some of the other cash buyers that we've reviewed in the past, Spring doesn't have all that many customer reviews. They only have about 141 reviews on TrustPilot and do not have any customers reviews on Google. They have less than 200 reviews on TrustPilot and none at all on Google or other well-known public review sites.

SpringMove Vs. Other UK House Buying Companies

Directly on the company's homepage, they state that 95% of their customers would recommend their service.

However, when it comes to researching the company's customer reviews, we haven't found nearly as many reviews as we have for other similar company, like we have for Property Rescue, Quick Move Now, or HouseBuyFast.

That being said, the company currently boasts an excellent rating of 4.5 on TrustPilot, which tells us that they are, indeed a trustworthy company.

However, it doesn't look like the company has claimed their TrustPilot page, and the review site shows a warning that they "may use unsupported invitation methods," which does raise a red flag on our end.

Still, the company has a good rating, so let's take a look at what their customers have had to say about working with Spring!

How is SpringMove when it comes to their customer service?

Sharon Flight who left a review on February 2024, found working with Spring a highly satisfying experience. She wrote:

"My experience with Spring was very positive, with excellent communication throughout. Selling my home through Spring has allowed me to move forward with buying the property I wanted."

Another happy client commended the company on their detailed approach, including follow-up communication.

“The initial conversation was very helpful in explaining the basics about part-exchanging properties. Also the same day I received a follow up email with an attachment giving more detail. Valerie has a friendly, professional approach”.

Does SpringMove offer a fair price?

Not all of those who left reviews for Spring were happy with the service they received or the price. While Spring, like all quick house-buying companies, will offer at least 80% below the market value of a property, many prospective sellers unhappily claim they received even lower offers than that.

“Hi everyone. Until to receive the offer from Spring I read so many reviews about Spring and I wasn’t sure what to expect! Lauren who wrote the review only couple of days was right! After 8 weeks of waiting today I have received the call from Spring. The approach is friendly and polite but what is more important is disappointing. Our property is a 3 bed detached with a garage(only 10 years old) we bought the house in 2015 for £163k and now is valued before £224k on Zoopla and from Halifax our mortgage provider for £222k .Their “free evaluators” which actually are paid by Spring so that means they work in their interest evaluate the house between £195k and £205k. Now …. The offer from Spring £145k !!!!!!! You can’t buy in our area not even a 3 bed terrace house in a rough area not in a new estate !! How to suit anyone this ridiculous offers? I thought is different than other companies but is no difference. They work for people?? Is a joke and totally waste of time. We put on hold few viewings on our property waiting for this ridiculous offer! Thank you Spring!”

Alex Nika on SpringMove

Nick Ferrari also complained about the low offer, believing that the company were deliberately loose with the information they received from valuers. He stated:

“Spring used two estate agents to price our property, but only quoted the one with the much lower price. The Chartered surveyor they sent told us he was only assessing condition not value, yet Spring got a value from him, where he had not noted any of the extensive green credentials, ASHP, passive design, large floor area, air conditioning, rainwater harvesting, all in a very short visit, yet went on to refer to 4 properties that only had nearby range 6 miles in common, except for one house, 40% smaller floor area, old build, more rural and no local services, shop, pub, school etc. The one exception was a house of similar size and price as ours coming out £145,000 lower price 25% lower than the last estate agent”.

Nick Ferrari on Spring

But as we all know, it's impossible to keep everyone happy all the time.

Will SpringMove pressure you into selling your home?

According to Mr G. Koester, Spring was helpful, did not rush the sale, and did not pressure him to sell.

They helped us achieve our goal. We were not rushed or pressurised. They allowed us to move with two weeks grace after completion, this allowed us to decorate and make good our new house, this has been extremely helpful. All the staff we spoke to were very helpful. We would recommend spring move.

Mr G. Koester on SpringMove

Is SpringMove a highly recommended company?

While we have found a number of negative reviews, the majority of reviews for Spring are positive, leaning to their being a highly reputable, and highly recommended cash buyer.

In a review on February 14th, Anne Marie claimed:

We have been dealing with Spring for a while now and find they deliver an excellent service from beginning to end. They are honest, reliable, and deliver a fair price also swift service. If you are considering selling your home quickly these are the people to contact, you will not be disappointed

ANe Marie on SpringMove

So as we can see there's some bad, but a lot of good to say about selling with Spring!

Does SpringMove have any awards, or have they been featured on prominent websites?

Spring lists a total of 3 awards on their website, including being the winner of the Property Investors Awards in 2017, 2018, and 2020. They have also been featured on a number of reputable websites, including:

  • The Times
  • Financial Times
  • Daily Express
  • The Sun
  • This Is Money

SpringMove - Our Final Verdict

Overall, SpringMove has a very clean, well-designed website that makes it easy for homeowners to request a cash offer for their homes.

The website also includes a wide range of information about the company itself, and the UK property industry, which is quite useful for anyone who may be interested in buying or selling in the near future.

And despite the fact that the company seems legit and boasts a number of positive reviews, we don't feel that they're the best choice on the market.

While most of their reviews our positive, we found that a good number of customer had complaints about their offer, claiming that the company lowered the offer as the selling process progressed.

This is in direct contradiction to the company's claim of providing a "guaranteed offer," which is stated directly at the top of their homepage.

Regardless, Spring does boast a number of positive reviews, making them an ideal candidate for anyone in the UK looking to sell their home fast.

However, we suggest that you perform your own research before deciding whether or not to contact them.
