Bettermove is a Leeds-based Company that buys houses that has been in operation since 2019. They are members of the National Association of Property Buyers (NAPB) and are regulated by The Property Ombudsman (TPO) and Trading Standards.
Unlike many property buyers, Bettermove not only buys homes with its own funds but also offers sellers the option to find a pre-approved cash buyer through its network and through placements on popular property platforms. This may help sellers get a better price for their property.
Bettermove claims it focuses on speed, value, and convenience. To that end, they claim they’ll sell properties within 30 days. If not, clients can walk away from their contract with Bettermove without incurring any penalty fees.

Bettermove has no available reviews on Google, which for some potential clients may not inspire confidence. That said, the company has over 1,300 reviews on Trustpilot and another 61 on Review.io. On both platforms, Bettermove also has a healthy rating.
One of the main areas that happy clients commended the company for was its professionalism. For example, on 5 March 2025, Michael Belford claimed:
Had my property for sale with this company and sold within weeks. professional staff very helpful all the way through would definitely recommend thank you.
Noman Gondal had a similar experience and wrote on 20 February 2025:
Julia has been incredible. Very responsive, very polite and extremely professional. They treated the whole transaction as if it was her own. She made the whole house buying process very calm for us from start to finish. I would highly recommend Bettermove and Julia. God bless her :D
How quickly can you sell with Bettermove?
The speed of the sale was noted by Sarah Hill whose recent review stated:
Very efficient customer service. The staff I communicated with were on the ball and within a few weeks my house was sold.
Super speedy and friendly service
What is it like working with the team at Bettermove?
I was dealing with Libby and she was amazing. She went over and above her call of duty. We were dealing with a challenging Vendor, however, she pulled out all of the stops and made it happen. Massive thank you Libby.

Of course, while the vast majority of clients seemed to have a good experience with Bettermove, some did not.
For a company that prides itself on offering value along with speed and convenience, Richard Smith felt that was exactly what he didn’t receive. In his 1-star review, he wrote:
A lot of hype in the promo saying how wonderful Bettermove is. My experience started well receiving a phone call and a subsequent discussion around the reasons for wanting to sell. I was told that the caller would make some enquiries on my behalf and then report back. One month later there was a second call with the confirmation there was an offer which I accepted. An agreement was signed between myself and Bettermove for a sale at the agreed price. A few days later a further call from Bettermove declared that they were reducing the offer by £15K... take it or leave it. Do not touch these guys they do not keep their word and I will now incur costs by way of the new estate agent’s commission as well as having lost the window to accept an offer on a locally rented flat.
Another irate reviewer also revealed:
Went to view a property arranged in advance and received confirmation via text. Arrived on the date and no one was there, rang Bettermove who said “we did try and ring everyone to say it was cancelled” - no attempt was made to contact myself, I had no text to say it was cancelled despite having a text to say it was confirmed (so clearly they had my number) and no arrangements made to attend to view further. Bad experience and terrible communication
It's true that sellers will have different expectations, and a bumpy sales process can be frustrating for a client eager to sell their house fast.
However, it’s important to see if a negative review reflects a recurring issue or is just a one-off before making an informed decision.
Is Bettermove Legitimate?
Bettermove is registered with all the relevant property bodies, which leaves us with no doubt that the company is legitimate. They also have over 1,300 reviews on Trustpilot, many of them highlighting that Bettermove helped the reviewer achieve the sale of their home swiftly and professionally.
Has Bettermove Won Any Awards?
Bettermove does not appear to have won any awards.
What Services Does Bettermove Offer?
Bettermove gives sellers two distinct ways to sell, aiming to balance speed with price:
- Cash Purchases – Bettermove buys homes directly using its own funds, with sales usually completed within 7 to 30 days.
- Buyer Matching – Sellers can access Bettermove’s database of pre-approved buyers. Their property is also listed on all major portals, including Rightmove, to help secure a better price.
- Quick Completions – Both options typically complete within 30 days, though cash sales may go through even faster.
How Much Below Market Value Does Bettermove Offer?
Bettermove doesn’t disclose the average percentage of market value they achieve on the sale of properties. Their site includes an interactive tool that suggests sellers can get 90% of the market value for their property.
However, this is misleading; quick sale property companies make their money by purchasing at a discount. With that in mind, it’s more likely that Bettermove will be able to secure 75-85% of market value.
Here's some advice from our property expert, Paul:
"'Most quick-sale companies, including Bettermove, operate within the 75-85% range of market value.
This discount reflects the speed and convenience offered, as well as potential refurbishment costs. I advise sellers to consider whether the trade-off for speed is worth it based on their financial goals and timeline.”

Bettermove vs Other Quick Sale Companies
Below, we’ve highlighted some of the key differences, such as average sale time, hidden fees and more, compared to other UK house buyers, such as Open Property Group, Quickmovenow, Home House Buyers, HouseBuyFast or We Buy Now
Quick Sale Firms
- Takes 6-9 months to find a buyer
- Some firms charge hidden fees
- Won't always buy any type of home
- Can take months if not true cash buyers
- Some firms do not offer complete confidentiality
- Not all quick sale firms offer a cash advance service
Bettermove
- Receive a cash offer in 24 hours
- Cover all fees
- Helps sell any home
- Can complete in 30 days or less if opting for cash sale
- Full confidentiality & privacy
- Bettermove does not offer a cash advance service
When comparing companies, homeowners should assess additional factors like legal fee coverage, flexibility in negotiations, and transparency in valuations, which can vary significantly between providers.
More advice from our Property Expert Paul:
"When selling with Bettermove or any quick-sale company, I recommend verifying their regulatory status and financial proof upfront. I advise requesting their latest proof of funds statement and checking their current NAPB membership.
This way, you can be sure you're working with a legitimate buyer who can complete the sale within the promised timeframe."
Bettermove - Our Verdict
Bettermove is a registered property-buying company, accredited by The Property Ombudsman (TPO) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), among other authoritative bodies.
The company specialises in quick, convenient property sales, giving clients two options: a direct cash sale to Bettermove—typically completed within 7 to 30 days—or access to its network of pre-vetted buyers. The second option may secure a higher price, as Bettermove also lists properties on major platforms like Rightmove.
Sellers are expected to sign an exclusive 30-day contract, and if, after that time, they wish to move on, they can do so without incurring penalties. However, according to the 1,000+ reviews online, most clients are happy with the service Bettermove provides, often commending the team for swift sales and professional conduct.
Taking all of the above into account, we consider Bettermove a reliable cash house buyer.
